Acceptable Donations

Whether or not WE CAN TAKE A DONATION IS AT THE DISCRETION OF OUR ASSOCIATE(S) ON DUTY.

We welcome donations of goods that are suitable for resale. An acceptable item is:

  • New or gently used

  • Clean

  • In good to excellent condition

  • In good working order

  • Reusable

We can accept a limited number of items for recycling. We also accept cell phones and prescription eyewear, which we give to other nonprofits.

What We Accept:

• Books

• Clothes/Shoes
• Furniture
• Housewares
• Newer working electronics
• Small appliances
• Sporting goods
• Tools/Hardware
• Toys/Bikes/Games
• Yard tools and equipment

What we recycle:

• Toys
• Computers
• Damaged books
• Electronics
• Metal
• Printer cartridges
• Unusable clothing
• Worn shoes

What We do not Accept:

• Air conditioners
• Auto parts (unless they’re new)
• Bathroom/Shower chairs
• Bowling balls
• Building/construction materials
• Car batteries
• Car seats
• Carpet
• Copy machines
• Cribs
• Damaged/Broken/Dirty/Wet items
• Doors/Frames
• Encyclopedias/Magazines
• Entertainment centers
• Food (check out Maltby Food Bank)
• Hospital beds
• Large appliances
• Light fixtures
• Mattresses/Box springs
• Mini blinds

• Paint/Chemicals
• Pianos/Organs
• Ping-pong tables
• Poison or hazardous materials
• Pool tables
• Propane tanks
• Shower doors
• Sinks
• Sleeper sofas
• Sleeping bags
• Sleeping pillows
• Strollers
• Swing sets
• Tile
• Tires/Wheels

There are other items that we cannot take. The reasons vary, but include:

• Government rules and regulations
• Health/sanitation
• Safety rules
• Disposal regulations
• Condition (item is broken, damaged, soiled or incomplete)
• Item has been recalled
• Item has an expiration date on it
• Space is limited
• Item cannot be handled by our associate
• Resale value is limited
